Join the Derby day #MintMutiny

Mint Mutiny_4-2

Hats on and mint juleps in hand, it’s almost Derby day! Captain Morgan has partnered with Top Chef judge Hugh Acheson to stage a mutiny during the Derby weekend – by putting down the bourbon and trying something something new with Mint Juleps for Acheson’s Mint Mutiny – a refreshing white rum cocktail.

Join the mutiny {and the drinking} with the recipe for Hugh’s unique and refreshing twist on this classic cocktail.

Mint Mutiny

  • crushed ice
  • 1 teaspoon fresh mint, torn into pieces
  • 1½ ounces Captain Morgan White Rum
  • ½ ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • ½ ounce Rose Water-infused Simple Syrup
  • Club Soda
  • Fresh mint, muddled
  • 1 cucumber spear

Directions: Fill a julep glass with crushed ice. Add the Captain Morgan White Rum, lemon juice, Rose Simple Syrup, and then fill with club soda until the glass is almost full.  Top the glass with a mound of more crushed ice and garnish with a cucumber spear and mint sprig.

Delicious bonus: This mutiny is officially on and the stakes are high with fellow bloggers at the gates as we’re competing against each other in our own race- the #MintMutiny challenge. We will be posting about #MintMutiny all day and whoever gets the most retweets of Hugh’s recipe and the #MintMutiny hashtag during the Derby wins a trip for two to either the Preakness Stakes or the Belmont Stakes. Make sure to follow @NYCFoodieFinder on twitter all day to find updates and to help us win by retweeting this delicious & festive drink!
